What ties this ongoing body of work together is the fact that it is crafted from cast-off materials. Collections of nails, wood, bark and ribbon all serve as "drawing" tools for the complex relationships of pattern and texture. Surfaces become encrusted with old prints, stitched and embellished and moved beyond what they originally were. Scale is also part of this series of pieces; tiny, overlooked scraps become precious with the addition of gold leaf or jade beads. Nothing is wasted or unwanted.
